Metro Rail Single Tracking Between Allen and Humboldt Stations

BUFFALO, N.Y. - UPDATE: As of Friday, April 10, Metro Rail is single tracking at Allen and Humboldt Stations until further notice. Riders there should board on the inbound side of the tracks.  Single tracking is still in effect between Church and Canalside. Riders should continue to board on the outbound side of the tracks. Canalside Station will be the end of the line. We appreciate patience from our riders as these improvements support the continued renewal of the Metro Rail system.

(Original March 16 2026)

Beginning Sunday, March 22,  through Saturday, April 4, Metro Rail service will operate on a single track between Church and DL&W Stations. During this period, passengers are advised to board trains on the inbound platform. Starting Sunday, April 5th, rail passengers boarding between Church and Canalside stations are being asked to board on the outbound side of the tracks until further notice. Trains will continue arriving every 20 minutes.

This temporary service adjustment is necessary to accommodate ongoing construction work at Church Street Station. We appreciate the public’s patience and understanding as these improvements support the continued revitalization of Metro Rail and enhance overall service quality.

Metro Bus Route 8 will operate fare-free between Allen and Canalside stations.

Riders are encouraged to download the Transit app for real-time updates or sign up for rail alerts at NFTA.com.
