Metro Rail operates between downtown Buffalo's DL&W Station and University Station at University at Buffalo - South Campus.

NFTA-Metro has undertaken a program of vital repairs and improvements on Metro Rail. From the construction of modern stations to track and equipment upgrades, these projects will ensure comfortable, safe, reliable service.

Beginning November 1, Metro Rail will operate on a single track in two zones: between Humboldt-Hospital and Allen-Medical Campus Stations, and between Church and Canalside Stations.
Trains should arrive every 20 minutes.
During this period, DL&W Station will remain closed, and rail service will terminate at Canalside Station.
Riders will be directed to board trains on the outbound platforms (to University Station).
Or riders can take Route 8-Main. It will be fare-free between Allen Station and the Waterfront Village.
Single Tracking Continues Aboveground Until Mid-November
Metro Rail will continue to single track between Church Station and Canalside Station. Trains will arrive every 20 minutes.
During this time, trains will be travel in both directions (to University & to Canalside) on the outbound track (to University). The inbound (to Canalside) platforms will be closed at Church, Seneca, and Canalside Stations. Please wait for your train at the outbound platform.
Single Tracking Starting Underground on November 1st
Metro Rail will single track between Humboldt-Hospital and Allen-Medical Campus Station. Trains will arrive every 20 minutes.
During this time, trains will travel in both directions (to University & to Canalside) on the inbound track (to Canalside). The outbound (to University) platforms will be closed at Humboldt, Delavan, Utica, Summer-Best, and Allen Stations. Please wait for your train at the inbound platform.
DL&W Station Closure
In an effort to maintain 20-minute headways, rail service will terminate at Canalside Station. DL&W will remain closed until Phase 1 of Cars on Main Street is completed mid-November.
Route 8 - Main
Starting November 1, Route 8 - Main buses will be fare free between Allen-Medical Campus Station and the Waterfront Village in both directions while single tracking continues aboveground and underground.
ACCESSIBILITY NOTE
Riders using mobility devices or requiring ADA-accessible service should note the following:
- Riders will need to board at the inbound platform at Humboldt, Delavan, Utica, Summer-Best, Allen, Church, Seneca, and Canalside Stations.
- Riders traveling to Church, Seneca, or Canalside Stations from the underground stations will need to board the rear car of the train.
- Riders traveling from Fountain Plaza or Lafayette Stations to Church, Seneca, or Canalside Stations will need to take an outbound train to Allen-Medical Campus Station and transfer to the last car on an inbound train. Riders can also use the 8 - Main bus, which will be fare free from Allen-Medical Campus Station to the Waterfront Village in both directions.
