NFTA & Explore & More Unveil Thomas the Tank Engine Train

BUFFALO, N.Y.– The Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA) held a special event  to celebrate the collaboration with Explore & More - The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Children's Museum  and  unveiled a new Thomas the Tank Engine train at the newly constructed Canalside Station!

The train was designed by the “Thomas & Friends” team at Fisher-Price and Mattel.  This exciting partnership brings to life a beloved children's character, Thomas the Tank Engine, providing a unique and engaging experience for families and young rail enthusiasts in Buffalo. The new Canal Side Station, part of NFTA’s ongoing efforts to enhance public transportation and community engagement, served as the backdrop for the memorable occasion.

"We are excited to bring this iconic train to Buffalo, creating a magical experience for children and families. The collaboration with Explore & More Children's Museum aligns perfectly with our mission to serve and connect the community,” said Kim Minkel, Executive Director of the NFTA.

“This partnership between the NFTA, Fisher-Price, Mattel, and the museum truly brings Thomas the Tank Engine to life in a new and exciting way,” said Michelle Urbanczyk, President & CEO of Explore & More. “We’re so happy to tap into that sense of wonder children will have as they board this train to Explore & More and other locations downtown. What a great way to kick off the summer!”

The unveiling ceremony l featured speeches from NFTA and Explore & More representatives, followed by the official ribbon-cutting for the Thomas the Tank Engine train. Families visiting Canalside took photos with Thomas, explored the newly constructed station, and enjoyed family-friendly activities provided by the museum.
